Charming family accommodation
Tilleul & Belle Epoque: 2 bedrooms for a family of 5
2 elegant and vast 4* bedrooms and 1 bathroom
"Tilleul" in memory of the old Lime tree that used to grow under its window. "Belle Epoque" for the period when it was added to the house.
This large family accommodation can sleep from three to five people sharing the facilities but also two persons travelling together. Situated upstairs at the very end of the manor house, this 60 m² suite comprises a corridor, two bedrooms and one bathroom with toilets. Five out of its seven windows have been re-manufactured by our village carpenter, respecting the traditional style of the place. From all windows, you will see our natural outgrounds. The orientation is South-East-North confering sun or shadow.
Tilleul is the children's bedroom but can also sleep Grand'ma, Grand'pa, Auntie or anyone else in the party. Dating from the 18th century and 27 m² large, it has two big windows overlooking the gardens. Its North-West orientation confers luminosity and preserves from the summer heats. No need for air conditioning: thick stone walls and traditional wood shutters can make it without energy consumption if you shut them of course! Fine woodworks take place on a whole wall, framing a classical black marble fireplace and its pier glass with a diamond motive. The other walls have been coated with parging then waxed in the pastel shades of Lime tree flowers. The floor is made of wood and there is a big carpet for the children to play. The cloths and net curtains are off-white and beige. The furniture comes from family and antic markets. Baby equipment can be provided.
Belle Epoque, parents' bedroom, was added to the house around 1900-1910 ; from this period, it kept a black marble fire place topped by a high precious gilded mirror, a red pine floor, three 2 meters high windows, a 3 m high ceiling for 23 m². Thus, we have decorated this bedroom thinking of the Belle Epoque (Edwardian years in UK) taking a few liberties: wrought iron sofa bed, marble bedside tables, bamboo pieces of furniture so popular in the time of overseas colonies, oriental carpets, old wardrobe, 19th century armchairs... The Chinese straw wall paper enhance the cheerful blooming impressionist curtains and bedcovers.
Lighted by a big window, the small bathroom could not be enlarged and was fitted out as best as we could. Warm and exotic, the decoration has been inspired both by the Belle Epoque spirit and Morocco, where Brigitte was born... after all, Pierre Loti (1850-1293), the writer and traveller so fond of Orient, was a native of this region!
